The excellent motion rendition, high color accuracy, and high potential contrast ratio of high definition television (HDTV) set new quality thresholds for consumer and computer displays. This seminar introduces HDTV technology, focusing on several aspects that are important to display systems engineers: scanning formats, color characteristics, and nonlinear transfer functions.
